Three days after the murder of the American businessman Todd Bachman, the Chinese regime held a press conference that only served to underline how many questions remain to be answered about this incident.
On Tuesday, Mr. Wang Zhifa, the vice director of the China National Tourism Administration, met with the press.
Wang arrived quite late to his own press conference. A brief statement was read that claimed the murder was a random act of violence.
Some press did not buy Wang’s theory of the crime and pointed out that the murder appeared to be intentional.
Wang was asked what the motive for the murder might be. The press were told that since the murderer was already dead, what did the motive matter?
Wang was asked at least ten more questions, but his answers did not satisfy the press. After 30 minutes, the press conference was ended with a promise that more details would be forthcoming.
There are a number of obvious questions about the murder of Bachman for which the regime has so far not provided any information.

No account has been given of how the knife used in the murder slipped through the tight security around the Drum Tower.
The regime has claimed that Tang stayed in a hotel near the Drum Tower, but has not provided the name of the hotel or any information about why Tang was said to be in Beijing.
No information has been provided about the Chinese tour guide, who was also injured in the attack.
