Meryl Streep’s Daughter to Make Acting Debut

Screen legend Meryl Streep will surely be applauding her daughter Grace Gummer in her upcoming role in “Gigantic”—a drama series on cable network TeenNick. The storyline depicts the ups and downs of being a Hollywood ‘It’ kid. Nickelodeon executive Marjorie Cohn told Reuters, "Our audience loves celebrity and pop culture, and ‘Gigantic’ gives them a unique, relatable teen perspective of a world they rarely get to see." The series is set to premier early next year.

  

Kirstie Alley Documents Battle With Weight

Kirstie Alley announced via “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and her Twitter account that she will star in her own reality show on cable network A&E, presumably beginning next year. The actress, whose struggles with weight have been the subject of many tabloid headlines, tweeted that she is cooking up a very funny documentary about losing weight, raising unpretentious kids, and show business.”

Steven Spielberg Honored for Human Rights Work

Academy Award winning director Steven Spielberg will be recognized next month by the Anti-Defamation League [ADL], receiving the organization’s highest honor: America’s Democratic Legacy Award. The award will be presented at ADL’s annual Los Angeles fundraiser on December 9 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. In a statement, the group called Spielberg a true champion of human rights, saying, “He has opened people's minds throughout the world; a gift that continues to make a difference every day.”

Gordon Ramsay Lands Another Fox Show

Hot-tempered chef Gordon Ramsay has signed a deal with Fox to star in (and co-produce) one more reality show (in addition to the popular “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Kitchen Nightmares”) called “MasterChef.” Contestants on this competition show will aim to create the best dish under the watchful eye of Chef Ramsay. The format has reportedly been a success with audiences in the UK and Australia. A premier date has not yet been announced.
