CALGARY, Canada—The sun had only begun to appear from behind a cloud when volunteers at the Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) put up display boards with slogans for renouncing the CCP. It was Oct. 17 in the center of Calgary, the largest city in the Province of Alberta, and the volunteers prepared to talk with Chinese people about renouncing the political regime that currently rules China.
Many passersby were attracted by the display boards and stopped to talk or ask for informational materials.
‘The Communist Party is coming to an end. No one can save it’
Mr. Liu from mainland China asked for copies of the VCDs. He told a volunteer, “These materials are so important, and I want to collect some. I believe that they will sell for a high price in 10 years because history is changing.”
The volunteer asked him why, and he explained, “I went to China last year. I went everywhere and had talks with many high-ranking officials, so I know that the Communist Party is coming to an end for sure. No one can save it.”
He continued, “I saw so many poor people. How poor they are! I could only give some of them a little bit of money. Those Chinese officials are really bad. From the top to the bottom, the conduct of the government officials is very bad.
“Many people had expectations for Hu Jintao at first. But now, it appears that Hu has neither the capacity nor the courage [to change things]. He was supposed to make good use of his power and do something good for China. But now it appears that he does not have the ability.”
Mr. Liu said he came from a poor background in China. Since his parents had been landlords, he was considered one of the “five black classes.” He said he had worked hard his whole life and had been full of enthusiasm for serving the country, but the CCP didn’t trust him.
“Falun Gong is such a good practice, yet the CCP still suppressed it. The CCP does not leave a way for itself to survive.”
He said, “I went back to China the last two years and took many pictures of Chinese society. I will keep them. I’ll use them as evidence when it’s time to settle the score with the CCP.”
A western lady pointed at the banners and asked, “What is quitting the CCP?” “Why should people quit the CCP?” “Is the CCP very scared about people quitting it?”
The volunteer explained that almost everyone in China raised their fists, vowing to dedicate their lives to the CCP. When these people understand the real face of the CCP and how many crimes it has committed against the Chinese people, they look for ways to renounce the CCP through different channels. That’s why the CCP is afraid of the “Quit CCP” campaign.
“But I heard that the CCP is improving. Isn’t it doing better?” she asked, a bit confused.
“Look at what’s on the display boards,” the volunteer told her, “These show what the CCP has done in past decades. To determine whether it is getting better, you can judge from the way it treats the peaceful cultivation group Falun Gong.”
The volunteer gave her a further explanation: “The practitioners of Falun Gong want to be better people according to the standard of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Falun Gong practitioners are 100-percent good people who are only helpful to society. Yet the CCP arrests them and puts them into jails. It uses all kinds of mental and physical tortures on Falun Gong practitioners to force them to give up their belief. Do you think that the CCP is becoming better?” the volunteer asked her.
The lady was very shocked. She said she didn’t know there were so many people practicing Falun Gong and thanked the volunteer for telling her the facts.
‘I want to learn Falun Gong’
An immigrant from Hong Kong came to the booth. He was a bit excited and said, “I always read the Chinese version of The Epoch Times (Dajiyuan). I know that Falun Gong is very good. I am old. I want to have good health. I know Falun Gong is miraculous. The effect [of the practice] is very good.”
He wanted to suggest that Dajiyuan introduce the practice to its readers.
He also suggested that the volunteer include information about how to practice Falun Gong at the booth. “More people in Calgary should be able to learn about this good practice,” he said. He was very happy to know that there are videos of Li Hongzhi's lectures and exercise instructions online.
‘Today is the most meaningful day in my life’
A young lady stood at the booth in the early morning. When she saw the display boards, she came up to ask what they were.
The volunteers told her about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners happening in China. They told her that everyone needs to know the facts and help stop the persecution. She felt very sorry to hear about the persecution.
When she learned that practicing Falun Gong is good for one's body and spirit, she was very happy. She asked where she could learn the practice. “Today is the most meaningful day in my life. I know so many important things,” she said as she left.
