Responding to your article Publicity Stunts Put Spotlight on Marriage Fraud, (Oct. 6, 2009), I too am a victim of Marriage Fraud.

I married someone from Cuba and he left the marriage 3 weeks after arriving in Hamilton to work with his friends. He did come back on the weekends from 24-48 hrs or less to have his clothes washed for the most part.

He then decided to go back to visit his family for 3 months after making money, (undisclosed to me). This was 6 months after arriving here in Canada. He came back and the next 2 weeks did nothing and left me without my knowledge.

I have only heard from him once since March 24, 2007. Now our divorce is pending as he has not contacted me and I want nothing to do with him ever again.

This issue as Lainie has pointed out is an epidemic across Canada and will continue until the Government steps in and changes the outcome for their fraudsters.

They need to be deported back to their country for what they have caused the innocent victims, the money spent, the emotional toll it takes on someone who went into a marriage in good faith to find out the love, commitment was never there in the first place and is so well demonstrated when they come to Canada to live with their spouses.
