TORONTO—The New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts and the Shen Yun Orchestra presented their second show at the Canon Theatre on the afternoon of Oct. 10, to celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival and Thanksgiving. The audience was captivated by the splendid songs and dances, accompanied by music performed by Eastern and Western instruments.

Ms. Yang, a Chinese opera professional, said that she was especially touched by the dances as they were full of power and strength. She said that the dances were spectacular and expertly executed, against backdrops that were very beautiful.

Performing Chinese opera in China, Ms. Yang continued to promote traditional Chinese opera in Toronto after immigrating to Canada.

"I particularly like the dances with percussion music, such as Mongolian Chopsticks and Drummers of The Tang Court. Their rhythms were very powerful. It is not easy for so many dancers to perform in such perfect unison. It is very difficult for each beat to be hit exactly at the same time,” said Ms. Yang.

"These dances were indeed wonderful," Ms. Yang said. “The dancers’ exquisite performance proved that they were well trained and professional.”

Ms. Yang said she found that Westerners also liked these programs very much, and so she thought that the show was a great way to promote traditional Chinese culture.

She stressed that she's really proud of seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts’ shows so successful and with such a large audience.

'Exceptionally good'

Also at the second performance in Toronto was Mr. Liu, who moved to Toronto about three years ago and has viewed the show on three separate occasions, said in an interview, "The dances were very beautiful and very touching. In addition, the costumes and the music were wonderful as well.”

Referring to the program he liked the most, Drummers of the Tang Court, Mr. Liu said, “The program is very inspiring."

Talking about the performance of the Shen Yun Orchestra, he said, "Its performance was exceptionally good." He also praised Shen Yun’s singers’ top-notch performance. He added, "The message contained in these programs was very touching."
