GENEVA—Mr. Gerald Butty, an entrepreneur in Geneva, was surprised by the wonder of the highly-acclaimed Shen Yun Performing Arts show he saw recently at the Theatre du Leman.

“I have never seen a show such as this one. It conveys joy, wonderfully fantastic colors, emotion and, how shall I say this ... an unaccustomed expression. I had no previous knowledge of this culture, I was completely blown away. I am truly impressed.”

Stunning scenes of ancient China portrayed in Chinese dance and music evoked a gamut of emotion in him.

“I lived them as a fantastic allegory. It is something unsettling, there is a force, emotions. I am unable to express the emotions in which this show has stirred inside of me. I had no knowledge of the Chinese mythology, it is a discovery in itself. However, the scenes showing the present China which represent the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, notably the tormented family are so real, so sad. Nevertheless, despite the sadness, they are able to shed hope, and joy—it is incredible.”

Mr. Butty was so overawed by the Shen Yun artists, he would tell his friends that they must see the show for themselves.

“Go and see the show, it is out of the ordinary. One discovers a part of history which is barely known to Westerners. It is truly pleasant to see and feel; joyful and melancholic. It is very strange to present all at once sad images which can convey a certain joy, it is a paradox, I truly enjoyed the show."
