Before Amy Winehouse and Adele, there was Alice Russell. Without the media circus that seems mandatory for 21st century divas, Alice has been steadily churning out awesome tracks including a string of collaborations with groundbreaking artists such as Quantic. Alice’s delayed fourth album Pot of Gold is well worth the wait. Her first album on her own label Little Poppet, every track is a hip-shaking delight from the opening groove of ‘Turn and Run’ to the cover of Gnarls Barkley’s ‘Crazy’. A must buy for anyone with even the smallest hankering for soul. And if you haven’t caught Alice and her 10-piece band live, you’re missing out on something very special.
