Babi Yar Massacre
TRAGEDY: An elderly Jewish woman wipes tears from her eyes at a commemorative ceremony for the victims of the Babi Yar massacre in Kiev, Ukraine on Sept. 27. A funeral procession as part of the event 'On the Way to Death' led to the Babi Yar Menorah monument, where a ceremony was then held. In 1941, during a span of two weeks in late September and early October, the Nazi military shot more than 33,000 Jews in a suburban ravine of Kiev called Babi Yar. In the months that followed, they massacred much of the original population of approximately 175,000 Jews. (Vladimir Borodin/The Epoch Times)
