William Hurt, Hugo Weaving and Richard Roxburgh will take to the stage in the STC's coming season, while Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman will direct a work.
The STC unveiled its 2010 program on Friday, with artistic directors Blanchett and husband Andrew Upton offering up a selection of classic texts, new works and adaptations.
In one of the finest casts ever assembled on the Australian stage, Roxburgh, Weaving, Blanchett and John Bell will star in Anton Chekhov's play Uncle Vanya, in a new adaptation by Upton.
Hoffman will return to the director's chair at the STC to take on Sam Shepard's True West, which takes a hard look at the great American dream.
William Hurt and Robyn Nevin will lead a cast of Australian and US actors performing in Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night, directed by Upton.
The 2010 season also includes Spring Awakening, based on Frank Wedekind's controversial 1891 play, which was a sensation when first presented on Broadway.
