Paula Abdul to Host Divas

On Monday night, former “American Idol” host Paula Adbul announced via Twitter that she will host VH1’s multi-artist concert, “Divas,” next month. VH1 also unveiled the concert’s lineup in a press release, stating, “After a four-year hiatus, VH1 will bring back the legendary live concert event VH1 Divas by featuring some of pop music’s most talented female artists—Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, and Miley Cyrus.” This will mark the first gig for Abdul since leaving “American Idol.” “Divas” will take place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House on September 17 at 9 P.M. EST and will air live on the cable network.

LaToya Jackson to Open Up

LaToya Jackson, sister of deceased pop star Michael Jackson, will be seen on ABC next month, both as a guest co-host of the morning talk-show, “The View,” and in a one-on-one interview with Barbara Walters for television news magazine “20/20.” In a statement to ABC News, Ms. Jackson said, “I am thankful to the investigators for uncovering the truth to the world and I look forward to the day that justice will be served to all the parties involved in my brother’s homicide.” The interview is scheduled to air on September 11 at 10 P.M. EST.

Michael Jackson’s Death Ruled a Homicide

New documents have allegedly confirmed that Michael Jackson died from a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol. An official from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported that the 50-year-old’s death has been ruled a homicide. Jackson’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray, who was at Jackson’s bedside when he died, is being investigated and could face criminal charges. The findings have not yet been publicly released.

Smokey Robinson—50 Years in the Biz

Singer-songwriter Smokey Robinson is celebrating his 50th year in music this year and is releasing a new album, “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun.” The legendary musician is responsible for such timeless hits as, “Tears of a Clown,” “Shop Around,” and “My Girl,” just to name a few. The new album features some guests, such as India Arie, Joss Stone, and Carlos Santana.

John Fogerty Offers Free NYC Concert

Legendary rocker John Forgerty is bringing his country and blues cover band, The Blue Ridge Rangers, to Manhattan’s South Street Seaport for a free concert next month. After some time away from this project, Fogerty is releasing new material in “The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again” due out September 1. In a recent interview with “Billboard,” the former Creedence Clearwater Revival front man was asked how he plans to spend the next year. He said, “To perform this music in front of as many people as possible. I mean, this is live music—it was intended to be played live.” The show at Southstreet Seaport is slated for September 2.
