SYDNEY—As the title of their debut album suggests, everything is falling into place for Adelaide band the Sundance Kids.

The pop-rock group self-funded their record, Fall Into Place, got signed by Warner Music, and are finding mainstream radio airplay with their first two singles, Solutions and Drive Away.

"It's pretty intense at the moment ... I'm very excited," singer Ash Gale told AAP.

"It's been three years in the making and we've kind of put our blood, sweat and tears into this album."

The group started out as an acoustic guitar trio of Gale, Jason Shepherd and Luke Zecchin, before they were joined by bassist Jeremy Wright and drummer Suresh Meyer.

Three years ago the five of them sat down in the carpark of an Adelaide shopping centre eating take-away pizza and discussed the future of the band.

"There was this weird chemistry thing going on and we were like, if we're going to do this let's go as hard as we possibly can," Gale said.

"Everyone was like, I'm going to put my life on the line for this, and that for me was a scary moment because I was so passionate about it, and wanting everyone to be on the same page. And everyone was from the beginning."

Named after the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - which they had never seen until six months ago - the title suits their sing-along melodies and uplifting vibe.

Gale names Jeff Buckley, Keane and Damien Rice as among his influences.

"I love the big sing-along anthemic songs," he said.

"I want to write those songs that people can just sing right back at you and they can connect with."

Gale said the band had picked up some interest from major record labels before recording their album, but decided to make on their own to ensure they had full creative control.

"We believed in it from the beginning and we thought let's back ourselves and take a step in the direction we want to go," he said.

"We did it very budget - we did it in Adelaide, and we did it with a producer we knew, which meant we could do it well and not spend a lot of unnecessary money. We were a bit smart about it."

The Sundance Kids have already toured with Aussie bands Evermore and End of Fashion and will embark on their first headline tour of the country in October.

Fall Into Place by The Sundance Kids in released on September 4.
