The tournament is the first of four lucrative FedExCup playoff events and the world number one will be making his first appearance since finishing second at last week's U.S. PGA Championship.
Two years ago Woods skipped the Barclays event, saying he was tired after winning back-to-back titles at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship in sapping heat.
However, the American went on to clinch inaugural FedExCup honors that year by sealing victory in the last two playoff tournaments to claim a $10 million bonus.
Woods leads the 2009 FedExCup standings, having triumphed five times on the U.S. circuit in 13 starts.
The Barclays Classic will take place from August 27-30 at Liberty National in Jersey City, New Jersey where Fijian Vijay Singh will defend the title he won last year in a playoff.
