Album Review: Lucky Elephant—'Starsign Trampoline'

You would be forgiven for thinking that summer may have bypassed Britain completely this year. However a dose of Lucky Elephant’s debut effort will easily put you in mind of blue skies and lazy afternoons spent reclining on deck chairs. From the hook-laden cartoon bounce of ‘Edgar’ and the jaunty organ-propelled ‘Reverend Tilsley and His Magic Lantern’ through to the much more sedate second half of the album, the mood here is playful and eclectic. In vocalist Emmanuel “Manu” Labescat the band also have an ace up their sleeve: his pronunciation could make a dishwasher manual sound interesting.
