Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle is doing what he can to help provide water to Wisconsin farmers to prevent massive crop failure.
The governor issued a state of emergency on Aug. 12 that allows farmers to apply for irrigation permits.
Data suggests that cool weather and low precipitation has affected farmers in more than half of the state, especially northern regions, and more than 350,000 jobs, Doyle said, according to media reports.
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is expected to ensure that the wildlife is unharmed while, and at the same time, enable farmers to irrigate the crops that are in danger of drying up.
