The New York Giants finished their second week of training camp, and while the defense has garnered most of the headlines, the Giants receivers did some shining of their own during Thursday’s practice.

Most notable among them was Mario Manningham, who made some nice catches in front of cornerbacks Terrell Thomas and Kevin Dockery off of quick slants.

On the play against Dockery, he juked him right out of position and had plenty of room to run. Fellow wideout Derek Hagan also had another nice practice and has really come on strong during the second week, showing quickness and good leaping ability.

Ramses Barden continues making strides. The 6’6” rookie receiver caught passes on short routes, deep passing plays, and even showed some flair going over the middle. What is especially impressive is how quickly he is catching on to the Giants offense and adjusting to the tempo of professional play.

Fellow rookie receiver Hakeem Nicks also impressed coaches and teammates with his ability to get downfield and haul in deep balls. The first-round selection out of North Carolina State made a series of nice catches this week and continues to show a lot of promise alongside Barden.

Tight-end Kevin Boss has also looked sharp during camp. Boss has really improved on his blocking and is displaying a knack for getting open on passing plays and making nice grabs.

As for the defense, they continued their strong play batting down balls and dominating the offensive line at times during this week’s practices.

On Wednesday, cornerbacks Terrell Thomas and seventh-round draft choice Stoney Woodson made some notable plays. The coaches appeared impressed.
