In the Los Angeles suburb of San Dimas, the bears know when it's trash day.

Wednesday was the day, and one brown bear apparently wandered down from the adjacent Angeles National Forest to see what was there for the taking.

"As I stepped outside I noticed the trash was everywhere,” resident Anthony Torres told KTLA-TV. “I noticed a furry kind of bush that I'd never seen before. I didn't have my glasses and the next thing you know the bush was moving. It was a bear.”

KTLA reported that sheriff's deputies and members from the Department of Fish and Game kept tabs on the bear during its hour-and-a-half visit to the community of condominiums. Residents stayed inside and no one was hurt.

News outlets reported a bear cooling off in a swimming pool in nearby Glendora. It's not clear if it was the same bear that toured the trash in San Dimas.
