Glenn Koenen is happy to be alive and grateful that there are still people “who care enough to help,” according to Minnesota media.
Mr. Koenen suffered a heart attack at a graduation ceremony at Drake University when Annie Swanson, a registered nurse (RN), jumped across bleachers to help. She began CPR after determining that he had no pulse.
Ms. Swanson serves as an RN at the Hennepin County Medical Center. Another nurse at the same facility, Mickey Hayes, also saved a life when off duty.
Ms. Hayes happened upon a car accident. The driver of the hit car, Thomas Harrigan, was not breathing due to the severe impact from a car behind him. Nurse Hayes crawled in through his car’s back window and cleared his airway.
Mr. Harrigan considers Ms. Hayes a heroine.
