BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—Mr. Ferreira, a foreign trade executive and Ms. Glait, working in real estate, bought tickets to the Shen Yun Performing Arts show hoping to see the promised 5,000-years of Chinese history, past and present.
Shen Yun had advertised that it would bring China's true traditional culture to the people of Buenos Aires and that it had chosen Auditorio Belgrano as venue.
Those who saw the show had only good things to say.
"Colorfulness, yes, the choreography, yes, yes we liked it a lot. This is what we came to see, the choreography and colors," Mr. Ferreira said.
He was impressed with every part, and singled out the Welcoming Spring dance.
"In regards to the Spring scene, it is very lovely. They look like real flowers."
Then he spoke of The Udumbara's Bloom, which tells of a flower that blooms only every 3,000 years. According to legend, it blooms when a great saint or sage is coming to the world.
"Later, there was another performance that was lovely, where they formed a flower in the center and then two women come out of the middle. That one I liked a lot too, said Mr. Ferreira. The colors of that dance are sparkling white and a rich gold. Some of the gestures in it use Indian dance vocabulary.
Mr. Ferreira and Ms. Glait know something about Chinese culture, have seen movies about it and have seen some Asian artists in Mexico. They prefer not to miss any show that brings traditional culture to the world.
"Yes, it [Chinese culture] interests us a lot. We like it," he said and Ms. Glait added the thought, "It is very special."
"The body of it and the soul is what interests me most. What I mean is, the internal aspects, the part of the mind," said. Mr. Ferreira, as Ms. Glait interjected "The philosophy."
What was inspiring about the show was that "It is precisely the history that is transmitted, the history of China. What they relate and give expression to on stage," said Mr. Ferreira.
Ms. Vivian, a decorator and designer, shared a few thoughts before leaving for home.
"It was an enjoyment of beauty. The colorfulness, the philosophy, the Chinese culture, the harmony was very lovely -- very lovely and spectacular."
Shen Yun Performing Arts will be performing in Buenos Aires until July 5. Santiago, Chile, will host three shows from July 10 to 12. The show will then return to Argentina on July 16, this time in Cordoba, performing three shows until July 18.
