BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—Mr. Bofill, an auditor for the world famous Rutini winery, and Ms. Bofill, a horse-riding instructor, were delighted to have bought tickets to see Shen Yun Performing Arts' seventh show at Auditorio Belgrano on Saturday afternoon, July 4.
Both were in awe by what unfolded before their eyes—stories from China's 5,000-year history, from past to present, presented through classical Chinese dance and song.
"I very much liked [the show] and I’m not accustomed to this kind of message," Mr. Bofill said. "The choreography is actually very stunning."
Mr. Bofill particularly liked the program with the flowers [The Udumbara's Bloom—a legendary flower that blooms only once every 3,000 years] "and also others, but the flowers were something different, and of course then also the warrior, ... that part was very good, actually really, really nice.”
He commented on the dancers' technique saying it was “terrific, and actually very good."
The singers were also praised, with Mr. Bofill saying, "Very good voices, yes and truthfully, it draws the attention—very good."
Ms. Bofill joined the conversation saying, “I very much like how it's structured. All of the creativity that it has, the message that there is something more, the eternal that goes beyond what we are, here in this planet earth and it seems to me very emotional.”
For Ms. Bofill, the entire show was amazing and she couldn't pick a favorite, saying, “All of them, all of them.”
Classical Chinese dance was something new to Ms. Bofill, “I’m not accustomed to this kind of art, generally one sees classic dance, or Spanish dance, more mundane things, that is, I don’t have experience in this, it seems to me to be very difficult choreography, because of the meticulousness, in the same manner the precision that it projects, that is, I liked it very much.”
The Shen Yun Performing Arts shows also employs a 3D digitally animated backdrop which flows together with the music, dance, and costumes to contribute to the complete picture seen on stage.
“I think it [the backdrop] is excellent. That is why I was telling you about the creativity, of how they bring together what is a very small staging scene with a projection to something actually magnificent and how it is all greatly achieved," she said.
Shen Yun will be performing in Buenos Aires until July 5. Santiago, Chile, will host three shows from July 10 to 12. The show will then return to Argentina on July 16, this time in Cordoba, performing three shows until July 18.
