Shen Yun Performing Arts

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—An enthusiastic audience enjoyed another wonderful performance of New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Auditorio Belgrano in Buenos Aires on Friday evening, July 3.

Mr. Hernandez, a business consultant, was at the show and he said it was “very high quality, and they really put a lot of effort and a lot of professionalism in what they do.”

He said he was really pleased with the singers: “They have extraordinary voices. Usually, you are used to listening to Western people, but we didn’t know that people [originally] from China had this kind of talent. It was very different, they could sing European songs—they have a great voice.”

He also liked the dancing. “The physical training they have is really amazing, so we are very, very pleased with the show. Congratulations. Everything is very impressive.”

’Through their movements they were saying so much’

Mrs. Hernandez, a Professor of Anthropology, was at the performance with her husband and grasped the deeper meaning of the show saying, “I liked everything so much.”

“The technique and skill is wonderful. In fact, it wasn't acrobatics, but a spectacle of dance and of art; something much closer to a fine art than just skill.

“This interested me very much because I am a researcher, specifically of the body, an anthropologist of the body and I liked how they spoke, not only with their bodies, but they recounted the history of every place in China. It was incredible how every region had its own individuality, its particularities, its brand, its seal.

“Through their movements they were saying so much. Furthermore, it was from the sublime moments, the ethereal nature of the show—that which cannot be rationalized by us Westerners—it brings us Easterners and Westerners together.”

Mrs. Hernandez reflected on how the show made her feel.

“I come from a job that has very Western views, we run, run, run; but with this [Shen Yun] I was left almost in suspense.”

She appreciated the ancient myths and legends of ancient China that were told through the song and dance.

“One thing that I liked and that I figured out was that they were ancient tales—because those stories must be very old—the appearance of many suns, of living on the moon, and well, the entire Spring theme, like the flower that appears after so many years. These stories that are placed within the dances; it was so lovely.”
