Shortly after the suppression, many witnesses posted their experiences on Internet forums and blogs. On a particular Sino blog, a user claimed that armed police physically assaulted the villagers for two hours at night, including the elderly, women and children. The police were reported to have used electric batons and later dragged injured protesters into police vehicles.
On July 1, an Internet user who claimed to be from Huangguoshu posted a message on bbs.news.qq.com to say that the armed police beat them and smashed their cell phones and cameras. The poster said, “A lot of people were beaten, and are currently in the hospital. [The armed police] even opened fire on us! They forcibly took our land and refuse to provide compensation.”
The Huangguoshu police department told The Epoch Times, “Armed police follow orders from their higher ups. I can’t say anything else. You need to go ask the higher ups.”
China’s state-run media failed to report any mention of the protest suppression and brutality by armed police.
