HAMILTON ISLAND—She's 22, comes from Vancouver in Canada, and her boyfriend thinks he's got the best job in the world.

But the truth is, she does.

Breanna Watkins met Ben Southall as she was travelling around Africa.

They liked each other so much they spent the next 12 months living out of his Land Rover and sleeping in a tent on the roof - it was Africa after all.

Then they heard about Tourism Queensland's Best Job in The World promotion and put together Ben's application.

Out of 34,000 applicants he won and has brought Ms Watkins to share his six-month stint in the palatial Blue Pearl villa on Hamilton Island.

While Mr Southall has to work, all Ms Watkins has to do is enjoy the ride.

And her squeals of delight as she was shown through the multi-million dollar "caretaker's cottage" wouldn't have been out of place on a Gold Coast theme park roller coaster.

"It is definitely a head spin," she said.

"It's probably the most exciting feeling I've felt in a long time, just bubbly and happy and excited - it's brilliant.

"Seeing it on TV you can't really imagine what it's like.

"Here I am, I'm touching the pillows, I'm breathing the air, I have amazing people with me, it's just unreal."

Ms Watkins said she's been very impressed with the way her boyfriend is handling being thrust into the media spotlight after winning the promotion.

"He shines in every department. I can't say there's a fault with this boy," she said.
