World Falun Dafa Day
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Falun Gong practitioners around the world celebrated on Wednesday, May 13, Falun Dafa day. It is the day of the birth of Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa), whom his students call “Master” Li. Master or Teacher Li began teaching Falun Dafa on this day in 1992.

Falun Dafa practitioners from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area came to 3rd Street on the National Mall where there is a splendid view of the U.S. Capitol, and performed the slow moving exercises that are part of the discipline of Falun Gong.

I asked one practitioner, Terri Marsh, an attorney in Washington, D.C., what was so special about her teacher.

“Ever since I can remember, I have looked up to the prophets and saints depicted in the Bible or wherever. Master Li resembles those prophets and saints of other religions,” Marsh said.

Dr. Tsuwei Huang, an engineer, said he was very happy today. He distinctly remembers the first time he celebrated Falun Dafa day in 2001, which was a sunny day similar to today. I asked him what he hoped to accomplish by coming out for this event.

“I wish everyone can know the beauty and the power of Falun Gong. I especially wish the Chinese people can really understand the truth about Falun Dafa,” said Dr. Huang.
