The NTDTV World Competition promotes expression of the finest of Chinese traditional values through the art form of figure painting, following the painting techniques of classical realism and Western classical art.
Ms. Lian Wei, member of the Competition Organization Committee, talked with Epoch Times about the competition. “The oil figure painting competition aspires to re-establish traditional and classical oil painting. Modern arts overall have utilized dark and heavy forms in both expression and color. Contemporary artists have been more or less influenced by the trend of modernization and thus, the creation and appreciation of art work has also been influenced by the dark and heavy concepts.”
“Painting,” she continued, “is a beautiful art form. We promote the beauty of fine art through figure painting and realism. The purpose of the world competition is to restore the traditional and beautiful fine arts.”
Notification and invitation letters will be delivered by the end of October. Ms. Wei explained, “Contestant can submit up to three works of art within a five year period. At least one of the paintings must be of a full figure. Should both the contestant and the art work be absent from the award ceremony in December, both the qualification and award of the contestant will be nullified. Plagiarizing will disqualify a contestant immediately.”
