SYDNEY, Australia—The manager of a Sydney-based financial company said the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts Sydney show on Sunday afternoon, April 26, was "one of the best I have ever seen."
The elements of Chinese traditional culture resonated with Ms. Trithosadej, who grew up in Thailand and was familiar with Buddhism.
"You never get bored with this show ... especially the stories about Buddhism," Ms. Trithosadej said after watching the matinee performance on Sunday.
She particularly liked the depicting of Chinese legends, like Mulan, monk Jigong, and the Monkey King. She also commented on how vivid the digital backdrops were.
"The music is great, and the scenes ... It looked like the real thing.
"It’s an excellent show, it’s one of the best I have ever seen," she said.
'Just absolutely wonderful'
"I think it's spectacular and colourful. It's just spectacular, to tell the honest truth. The colour, and ... the different costumes from the different regions which you wouldn't be aware of.
"You're looking at it and thinking 'My goodness!' and also to see the traditional Chinese ... [dance].
"It's absolutely spectacular, and I think you can see that from the audience [members] and their reaction.
"As a matter of fact, my girlfriend is absolutely going to hate me that I didn't bring her," Ms. Larsen said.
Ms. Larsen was impressed by the skill and youthful vigour of the dancers, and was pleased to see that Shen Yun is reviving traditional Chinese dance.
"I think it's wonderful that there is somewhere for these young people to go to obtain the art that is being lost. Just have a look at them, we were just sitting there in awe, they're just absolutely wonderful.
"They're all so young, and I think they're so intense about their performance, because they want to bring what they're believing ... out in their performance."
She was especially moved by the program that depicts the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
"Actually, I had tears in my eyes, because I do know about the persecution over there and how they're trying to bring awareness to other nationalities. But a lot of people are very much unaware of what is really going on over there. I think this brings that in a nice way, a cultural way, to the forefront for people to understand the culture and what is happening today," Ms. Larsen said.
