Mr. Xu Yin, a former professor of China’s prestigious Tsinghua University, was one of the speakers. He came to the United States in September 2008. Xu said, “On March 13, 2006, I was at home when over twenty Chinese police suddenly broke in and searched my home without any warrant or legal documents. My wife and I were then arrested because police found Falun Gong books in our home.” Falun Gong is a peaceful meditation practice that has been persecuted in China since 1999. Xu was jailed for two years and was released in 2008.
Xu described how he was imprisoned for 16 months in the Tuanhe Labor Camp near Beijing. “For eight months, I was in a solitary confinement cell where they forced me to sit on a small stool without moving for 18 to 19 hours a day. When I was released, on my release notice, the column where it should have indicated the reason for detention was blank.” Thus under the CCP’s regime, even a professor without any previous criminal activity can be jailed for 2 years.
Mr. Zheng Quong also came to United States near the end of 2008. He said, “The CCP has never eased up on its surveillance of Falun Gong practitioners.” Zheng had been jailed for 5 years for practicing Falun Gong and was released in 2006. The police warned his business partner and landlord that because he practiced Falun Gong, he had a criminal record, and thus should not to rent to him. When he traveled to Nanjing, right after he entered a hotel, two local police officers knocked on the door and forcibly searched his bags. They warned him not to go out alone and said he may be subjected to be searched at any time.
When Zheng was released from incarceration, he and his wife stayed in his parents’ home. There used to be two rows of 30-year-old trees in front the house where the leaves covered up the windows. “Shortly after I returned home from jail, the trees were cut down to half their height.” Later on, he realized this was so the authorities could keep a better eye on him. “In fact, the CCP used means that were more refined and more sinister. From the essence of the CCP and how they have always treated the Chinese people, I know that freedom will never belong to me, it is just another form of detention,” Zheng said.
The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, published by The Epoch Times in 2004, revealed the facts implicating the CCP as one of the most evil entities that has ever existed. The CCP has a long bloody history, from pitting family members against each other to instigating social disarray for purposes of solidifying power, to genocide, large-scale persecution, forced labor, torture, coercion, police brutality, human organ harvesting of live Falun Gong practitioners, mass brainwashing, and the eradication of its own traditional culture and values.
Among the most notable were events in history such as the Cultural Revolution, the Tiananmen Square Massacre, and the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Upon the release of the Nine Commentaries, many people calmly considered the facts and came to realize that in good conscience they couldn’t continue to have anything to do with the CCP or its affiliates. Thus, the upsurge of quitting the CCP began. As of today, 50 million people have stepped forward to stand up against the CCP.
