A Chinese man died after eating instant noodles on October 13 in Shaanxi Province, northwest China.

According to Xian Evening News, the victim, Chen Zhixun, 49, a villager in Fuzhai Town, Xingping City in Shaanxi was sent to local village clinic at around 9:00 a.m. because of his feeling unwell after eating instant noodles. He was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis there.

But at 10:00 a.m. Chen experienced increasingly severe abdominal pain associated with vomiting. He was immediately transferred to Xingping Women and Children Health Hospital for emergency treatment.

When a doctor was asking him about his illness in the hospital outpatient, Chen suddenly fell into the ground. He was soon pronounced dead after the rescue measures had proved ineffectual.

The hospital alleged that Chen did not die of their treatment so they would not assume any responsibility for his death.

Reportedly local public security bureau and health department are investigating this case.

A similar tragedy happened last year. Four elementary students in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province died after eating instant noodles on December 3, 2007.
