The tornado warning for parts of New Jersey and Connecticut was lifted on Monday, but rains and some flooding persisted in parts of the state.
The warning issued for Union and Essex counties was lifted before 10 a.m., while the warning in Connecticut’s lower and central Fairfield County was lifted at 11:30 a.m.
However, according to NJ.com, torrential rain and floods are still possible in New Jersey.
The National Weather Service said that a flood warning was in effect for Bergen, Essex, Passaic, and Union counties. New York’s Orange and Rockland counties are in the warning as well.
The South Branch of the Raritan River in Readington hit 7.4. feet on Monday morning, just shy of the 8-foot flood stage, reported NJ.com.
Meanwhile, around 2,000 customers Bridgewater were without power at 11 a.m.
For New York City, a flash flood warning was in effect for Queens, the Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester County, Staten Island, and Brooklyn until 1:30 p.m A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for Westchester County, according to the National Weather Service.
A flash flood warning was also issued for Litchfield and Fairfield counties and is in effect until 12:30 p.m.
