NEW YORK—Randall Berman, chief operating officer of Continental Food and Beverage, known for its Inca Kola brand experienced Shen Yun Performing Arts on April 21.

“The show was fantastic: the costumes, the colors, the sounds were just spectacular,” said Mr. Berman.

New York-based Shen Yun has three equally large companies touring the globe simultaneously, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of the divinely-inspired Chinese culture.

“I think just the whole story of the history, moving through from ancient history and moving forward in history, is just an incredible story and a great learning experience,” said  Mr. Berman.

China’s deep cultural traditions are contained in classical Chinese dance, according to Shen Yun’s website. Mini-drama dance pieces using classical Chinese dance, and ethnic and folk dance and story-based dance, to tell stories and myths from the 5,000 year-old culture.

“In less than ten minutes each, Shen Yun dances recount ancient myths, bygone heroes, or celestial paradises,” according to the company’s website. “Whether set in the past or in contemporary China, every dance embodies traditional Chinese values.”

Mr. Berman attended the performance with his wife Liz, who thought the performance was very wonderful.

“Beautiful, beautiful dance pieces,” said Mrs. Berman. “It’s just so refreshing to see the talent and how wonderful the costumes are.”

‘I take home a lot of joy’

Hana Rubi, a chief operating officer for Maxon, was also at the performance.

“I really enjoyed it. I take home a lot of joy, just a really warm nice feeling,” Ms. Rubi said.

Ms. Rubi has read many books about China but felt that Shen Yun was “an interesting window into Chinese culture.”

“I just thought it was absolutely beautiful,” said Ms. Rubi.
