HONG KONG—The show full of ancient Chinese culture that is not welcome in China, is finally performing in Hong Kong early 2010. Fans of Shen Yun Performing Arts expressed their delight in being able to see the show from Jan. 27 to 31 next year.

Yan Sun-kong, former Chief Inspector of the Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Company, traveled to Taiwan to see Shen Yun two years ago. He said he was excited for several weeks when he heard that Shen Yun was performing in Hong Kong.

“It’s been my wish for the past two years,” Mr. Yan said. “After I saw the performance two years ago in Taipei, I never stopped wondering why it cannot come and perform in Hong Kong.”

Shen Yun, based in New York, travels the world presenting the 5,000 years of ancient Chinese culture through classical Chinese dance, music, and song—the culture that the Chinese Communist Party has tried to eradicate.

Shen Yun’s 2009 tour traveled to many of the world’s greatest stages, including New York’s Radio City Music Hall, London’s Royal Festival Hall, Washington DC’s Kennedy Center, and Paris’ Le Palais de Congrès.

Shen Yun’s Positive Message Praised

Mr. Yan highly recommended Shen Yun. “In society nowadays, we need such a show that promotes positive messages and cleanses people’s souls,” he said. “I sincerely hope that a lot of people will go to the shows and the tickets to all seven of them will be sold out.”

Mr. Yan said the show, “celebrates and shows respect for Chinese culture with fairy tales and folk legends. Most Chinese are glad to see that. Shen Yun also stresses that Chinese culture is a divine culture. It really touches me. We should show respect for heaven and earth to prevent our minds from corrupting.”

“The show conveys the essence of a long lost Chinese tradition,” Chen said. “It will let people in Hong Kong understand Chinese history and its outstanding tradition. It will especially upgrade people’s moral standard.”

Chen believes that many people from mainland China will make a special trip to Hong Kong just to see Shen Yun’s show.
