A blast in the Central Paris area of the 10th arrondissement killed at least one person and another is missing, France24 reported Friday.
Three others were injured, and BFMTV reported that several people were trapped under the rubble left by the blast.
The blast took place at a garage Friday night local time on the Rue d'Enghien, local reports said.
Le Parisien reported that the explosion might have been caused by a fuel tank that blew up. It took place when workers were repairing the tank, said AFP.
A large police presence could be seen around the blast site, the paper reported.
Firefighters and rescue workers were on the scene.
AFP reported that the explosion took place in the basement of a three-story building.
The origin of the explosion has yet to be determined.
French Interior Minister Manuel Valls was reportedly on the scene, according to Le Parisien.
