Editor’s note: The Epoch Times here publishes direct translations of statements made by Chinese people in ‘renouncing’ the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its subordinate organizations. Statements such as these are submitted to a website affiliate of the Chinese version of The Epoch Times, Dajiyuan. The movement to renounce, withdraw from, or quit the CCP, called ‘Tuidang’ in Chinese, began in late 2004, soon after The Epoch Times published the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, an editorial series that explores the nature and history of the CCP. The statements offer a rare and candid glimpse of history in the making: the Chinese people turning their backs on the Communist Party, choosing conscience over pragmatism, and peacefully ushering in a future China free of Party rule.
I feel it is the mission and responsibility of each person to expose the nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and save the Chinese nation from harm.
I am a sea captain and a Falun Gong practitioner, who is originally from Liaoning Province in China. I started as a sailor in my 20′s and have been in this profession for 24 years.
I now live in the United States, and have been to Germany, Japan, Sweden, Denmark, and other democratic countries. I have also been to the former Soviet Union, North Korea, Vietnam, and other communist countries, and countries such as Libya and Iraq under Saddam Hussein.
Although, I knew that the CCP was not good, I did not know much about its theoretical system and the damage the CCP does to China and the world at large.
That changed when I read The Epoch Times’ editorial series Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.
I was deeply shocked when I read, “Throughout its 80-plus years, everything the CCP has touched has been marred with lies, wars, famine, tyranny, massacre, and terror.
“Traditional faiths and principles have been violently destroyed. Original ethical concepts and social structures have been disintegrated by force. Empathy, love, and harmony among people have been twisted into struggle and hatred. Veneration and appreciation of the heaven and earth have been replaced by an arrogant desire to ‘fight with heaven and earth.’
“The result has been a total collapse of social, moral, and ecological systems, and a profound crisis for the Chinese people, and indeed for humanity. All these calamities have been brought about through the deliberate planning, organization, and control of the CCP.”
Crew Members
Each time I sail, I persuade the crew members on board to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. As the crew staffing frequently changes, I often am dealing with fresh faces.
The easiest way to get the crew members to quit the CCP is to tell them that the CCP fights with heaven and earth, and so it is not safe to have its members on the boat. The Chinese people generally believe that divine beings will protect them, so it is relatively easy to persuade the crew members to quit the CCP.Once I worked on a ship sailing between Japan and the Persian Gulf. I quickly helped all of the crew members to quit the CCP. Following this, our ship always got good weather and a favorable wind. This made a big impact on the crew members. Later on, these crew members helped persuade new crew members to quit the CCP.
Port Officials, Agents, Pilots, and Dock Workers
Before an international ship docks in China, the captain is required to meet with the harbor’s pilot. In general, the pilots work hard. They work directly with sailors from all over the world, and they state how they hate the corruption, internal political struggles, lies, and violence of Chinese regime officials. In all these years, along the coast of China’s seashore, I have met so many pilots, and they all quit the CCP, save one.
After a ship docks, the shipping agent meets with me. The agents’ knowledge and experience is similar to that of the pilots. They’ve met captains from all over the world, and I find they are open-minded. They report they are often upset with the unreasonable requests of the China Port Authority Officials. As a result, when I suggest it, they agree to quit the CCP as soon as they understand what quitting means.
Port Officials include Customs, Port Inspection, Border Patrol, Health Inspection, and Port Police. They also come into contact with captains from all over world, so receiving a small gift from the captains is considered normal. If a captain doesn’t give a gift, it’s rather uncommon. So I gave them generous gifts on a regular basis.
According to their thinking, this is caused by the communist system. Their thoughts are relatively open, and I use discretion in telling them some stories of individuals quitting the CCP.
I also tell them of some prophesies that Heaven will destroy the CCP. For instance, I tell them the story of the stone of hidden characters. There is a stone in the scenic region of the Zhangbu River Valley, Taobu Village, Zhangbu Township, Pingtang County, Jinnan District, of Guizhou Province. It displays six horizontal Chinese characters that spell out “Chinese Communist Party collapses.”
The characters were hidden for ages until the stone cracked open. Embossed strokes on the stone surface are almost like a relief sculpture. According to experts’ initial investigations, these stone characters are naturally formed and date back 270 million years.
I tell the Port Officials, I have heard that once you agree to quit the CCP, you will be safe if any big natural disaster comes. Some of them agree immediately. Some don’t agree right away, but the conversation forms a basis for their quitting in the future.
When we are docked at a Chinese harbor loading or unloading shipments, I take time to tell the truth to the workers and stock keepers about the CCP and ask them to quit the CCP. Based on the fact that workers from inside and outside of China get paid different salaries and receive different benefits, I point out that the CCP is really a robber and a liar. Usually, they quit on the spot.
For the remainder of the time, I go around visiting Chinese crews at the harbor. Chinese crews today are all aware of the direct and indirect benefits of foreign shipping companies from democratic countries. Those who work for the foreign companies receive a direct benefit because they are treated better. Due to competition from foreign companies, many veterans and experienced crews left Chinese companies, so the mainland companies were forced to drastically increase salaries to retain talent.
I explain to them that the CCP is like a parasite feeding on domestic shipping companies. Then, I explain the nature of the CCP in relationship to their situation. Finally, I ask them to quit the CCP, and they usually agree to quit.
When we are at a foreign harbor, I walk around to find Chinese crews, asking them to quit the CCP. Getting them to quit is usually much easier in foreign harbors.
Close Relatives and Friends
My grandfather was a small team lead before the Cultural Revolution. During the Cultural Revolution, a popular slogan was, “Even a communist weed is better than capitalist turf.”
He offended some young people by urging them to work harder. My grandfather was very fast at cutting grass, so they brought a ridiculous charge against him saying he had cut communist weeds, which would be considered anti-communist.
For this, my grandfather was badly beaten, and sometimes dragged outside for a beating in the middle of the night. My mother suffered insomnia because of this.
My other grandfather was almost charged with spying, and being a counter-revolutionary because he was suspected of having covert communications with Taiwan.
