Tropical Storm Odette has intensified into Typhoon Odette on Wednesday, as it moves off the coast of the Philippines.

The storm has maximum winds of 74 miles per hour (120 kilometers per hour) and is 434 miles (700 kilometers) off the coast of Tuguegarao City, moving west at 8 miles per hour (13 kilometers per hour), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Typhoon Odette is enhancing a southwest monsoon that is bringing moderate to heavy rains in Zambales, Bataan, and Mindoro. “Residents in these areas are advised to be alert against flash floods and landslides,” according to the administration.

The administration projects the typhoon to be further east of Tiguegarao City by Thursday evening (273 miles; 440 kilometers) and at 118 miles (190 kilometers)  northeast of Apparri, Cagayan or the same distance southeast of Basco, Batanes by Friday evening.

By Saturday, Typhoon Odette is expected to be 74 miles (120 kilometers) northwest of Basco, Batanes, or at 62 miles (100 kilometers) south of Taiwan)
