Willy Switkes dies: Willy Switkes, a character actor who appeared in a number of films and Broadway productions, has died.
Willy Switkes, a character actor who had roles in “Tootsie,” “Taxi Driver,” and “Playing for Keeps,” died in New York. He was 83.
Switkes, whose death was confirmed by nice Ellen Switkes, appeared in dozens of films, reported The Associated Press on Monday. He died of colon cancer.
AP said that the characters he played were usually not identified. In “Tootsie,” he was credited with “man at cab,” when he is tossed from a taxi cab.
In 1986′s “Playing for Keeps,” he was identified as a “mint buyer,” according to Hollywood.com.
Switkes, from Washington D.C., also appeared in a number of Broadway productions, including “The Cherry Orchard” and “A Thousand Clowns.”
