WASHINGTON—Mr. Henderson, a former White House staff, and owner of a consulting firm was at the exclusive performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Kennedy Center Opera House on August 25, 2009.

The audience was deeply impressed with the show and honored the artists with frequent applause and two curtain calls.

Seeing the gorgeous advertisements for the show, the audience was looking forward to see something totally different from what they had seen before. They were mesmerized by the dazzling colors of the costumes and fascinated by China's 5,000 year history.

"What I learned was that the transitions in the dynasties is amazing, I’m going to read more about the program, which really explains each one of the vignettes that we saw, and I’ll begin education from that," he said with that tone of voice that told everyone that he truly wanted to learn more about Chinese culture.

Concerning the overall show he said, "It was very entertaining, it was very engaging, and I’ll definitely be back next year."

Mr. Henderson expressed his thoughts on the show. He is of Western background and not familiar with true Chinese culture, and the way it was presented through the centuries.

This is an "experience for American people to become more connected with what’s happening with the Chinese people. I’m very excited about it and I’ve always been fascinated by the culture and the dynasties and the transitions, and this has helped to bridge that gap." He said he plans to carefully read the program at home, to learn more about each of the narrative dances.

A six show run will be held at the Kennedy Center Opera House from Aug. 26 to 30.
