SAN DIEGO—Shen Yun Performing Arts gave its second show at the San Diego Civic Theatre on Sunday, Dec 27.
Ms. Pille, a former president and nine-year board member of the Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, said, "I am supporter of the performing arts … and I loved this show. It is fabulous.
"It helps me connect with all the different struggles that are going on outside of our own country. And that [Shen Yun] can rise to this level of beauty and expressiveness is amazing, really amazing."
According to the mission statement on its website, Shen Yun Performing Arts seeks to revive traditional Chinese culture that thrived before decades of suppression by the Chinese communist state.
"I think we’re getting the old and the new all in one … presentation. I think it’s great. It is very important to bring this [show] around the country and around the world. I appreciate the work that they have done to get it together. It’s beautiful," Ms. Pille said.
She added that the performers' costumes were striking, and that she will see the show again.
Shen Yun Performing Arts will perform at the San Diego Civic Theatre through Dec. 31.
