“I think it is absolutely divine,” he said “It is a very spectacular show.”
“The orchestra is marvellous—lovely music. The whole show is absolutely out of this world. It's beautiful”.
Mr. Hawes said it was good to see a production about traditional Chinese culture, noting that the West gets only “politics and imports and things” from the mainland.
The New York-based company's performance was “very good and very interesting," he said. "I am thoroughly enjoying it”.
Sasha Hawes, a former fashion photographer, said she and her husband had read about contemporary China and “the way the communists suppress the arts,” so she was also glad to see Shen Yun and its presentation of true Chinese culture.
“They depict it so simply yet so powerfully, for people to learn,” she said.
Mrs. Hawes described the dance Herding on the Grasslands, set on the Mongolian plains, as “amazing."
“You had a feeling like the horses running and eagles are flying," she said.
Shen Yun was so good, she said, “I could see it again.”
