NEW YORK—Celebrating the Chinese New Year in style on Saturday afternoon was New York State Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick. Mr. Fitzpatrick attended Shen Yun Performing Arts on Feb. 13 at Radio City Music Hall with his wife and daughter.
“It's just a message of hope, inspiration, determination—which I think is important,” Mr. Fitzpatrick said. “The colors, the choreography, the movement, the scenery—which was just interesting and fascinating—I really enjoyed it, and I would certainly encourage everyone to come and enjoy the show. It is outstanding.”
Mr. Fitzpatrick said he enjoyed every aspect of Shen Yun. “The singing, the sopranos and the tenor; they were wonderful. Every dance routine I enjoyed.”
“They were just phenomenal, phenomenal.”
New York-based Shen Yun has a mission to revive the ancient Chinese culture that has almost been lost through communism. China was once called “Shen Zhou,” meaning “Land of the Divine,” and Shen Yun brings these ancient stories to life with Chinese classical dance, music, and song.
“I love the message, it's so important. It really was just very exhilarating,” Mr. Fitzpatrick said. “It's a beautiful country, beautiful people, beautiful music, and a beautiful show.”
He said the show was a great treat for him as well as his wife and daughter.
“It's was just a fantastic … enjoyable day. It was so interesting,” he said. “It’s just great to be here. This was a wonderful experience.”
