ATLANTA—Among the full house at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre was Susan Patterson, an executive with the Trust for Public Land, a national conservation organization. She was given tickets to the Shen Yun Performing Arts performance as a Christmas gift. The native Atlantan has a musical background—she plays piano and guitar, has done choral singing, and worked for the Atlanta Opera. The former director of the opera is her son's attentive godfather.
She smiled and laughed as she spoke of the performance. "There was so much joy and passion in all of it."
Of all the qualities the show had, "The delicacy of the women that danced was just amazing, but really the color. That was the thing that stood out the most to me."
She would tell anyone who had not come to the performance "this is something that you should see … it’s a treat for the eyes."
Shen Yun Performing Arts is a New York-based dance and music company that aims to revive the true, five-millennia-old artistic tradition of China.
