The Oscar winners in 2013 went to a mix of movies, actors, actresses, writers, sound engineers, and others.

The best film of the year was awarded to “Argo,” a thriller about a CIA operative trying to rescue six diplomats from Iran during the 1979 revolution and hostage crisis.

Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi” bested “Lincoln” by Steven Spielberg, who was widely expected to take home the honor. But Daniel Day-Lewis, who was the favorite to win the best lead actor role, took home a third Oscar award for playing the title “Lincoln.” Jennifer Lawrence won the best actress award for her performance in “Silver Linings Playbook.”

Best Costume Design: “Anna Karenina” -- Jacqueline Durran

Best Documentary Feature: “Searching for Sugar Man” -- Malik Bendjelloul and Simon Chinn

Best Documentary Short: “Inocente” -- Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine

Best Film Editing: “Argo” -- William Goldenberg

Best Foreign Language Film: “Amour” -- Austria

Best Makeup and Hairstyling: “Les Misérables” -- Lisa Westcott and Julie Dartnell

Best Music -- Original Score: “Life of Pi” -- Mychael Danna
