NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.—It was a full house when the internationally acclaimed Shen Yun Performing Arts Company graced the majestic State Theatre on Friday Oct. 28.
So taken was the audience with the New York based company’s performance on the night, that they gave a standing ovation and two curtain calls.
Shen Yun Performing Arts is unique in its vivid presentation through dance, music, and song of Chinese 5000 year old culture.
Brian and Liz Greer heard about Shen Yun from friends and were happy they had taken the opportunity to see such a spectacular performance at their local theater in New Brunswick.
Liz loved “everything” about Shen Yun, “the colors, the dramatic dance … you’ve never seen anything like it,” she said.
Brian agreed, saying it was different than anything they had both seen before.
Liz works in real estate in New Brunswick and Brian works in finance. Neither were familiar with Chinese culture, making Shen Yun even more intriguing for them.
“I like that it tells a story … so that we can learn about the Chinese culture … from ancient times until now,” said Liz, adding, “So it’s interesting for us.”
Brian liked the choreography and the dance and, like Liz, was particularly interested in the Chinese cultural elements of the performances: “The way that it played out … with the narrative is interesting,” he said.
He noted, too, the richness of the individual performances, “each different from the others.”
