Neil Young with Crazy Horse - 'Psychedelic Pill' (Reprise)

Neil Young with Crazy Horse -- 'Psychedelic Pill' (Reprise)

Young reunited with Crazy Horse for both Americana, an album of traditional covers released earlier this year, and this lengthy album of new material. There has always been great chemistry between these musicians, particularly live. A strength of this sprawling work is that it captures an almost live mood, with plenty of fractured, incendiary guitar work and some great songs. The whole feel, both lyrically and sonically, is of Young drifting back to his 60s and 70s glory days, reconnecting with the essence of his creative peak. Yet this is no pale shadow of his earlier work, but rather its natural extension.Easily his best album this century.
