Malachi Throne dies: The veteran television actor who played Batman villain False-Face has died. Malachi Thorne was 84.
Malachi Throne, a television actor who played “Batman” villain False-Face and had roles in “It Takes a Thief,” died of lung cancer earlier this week. He was 84.
“My good friend Malachi Throne died last night. One of the finest actors and finest people I’ve been fortunate enough to know,” said Jim Beaver, the star of “Justified,” in a statement, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Thorne also made appearances on “Star Trek” and reportedly turned down an offer from series creator Gene Roddenberry to play Dr. Leonard McCoy. Thorne also is said to have made an attempt to get the role as Spock.
In “Star Trek,” he played the voice of The Keeper in the 1964 pilot episode and later played Commodore Jose I. Mendez.
He also had guest roles on “Hawaii Five-O,” “The Six Million Dollar Man,” and “Mission: Impossible.”
Thorne was a member of the Theatre West Company in Los Angeles. “Theatre West says goodbye to our friend and colleague Malachi Throne.” reads a statement on the organization’s website.
