Lil Wayne is said to be in critical condition at a hospital intensive care unit in Los Angeles after he suffered a seizure earlier this week, it was reported. However, a friend and label associate said Wayne was fine, and was watching a basketball game with him.

The 30-year-old rapper born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. was sent to Cedars-Sinai and was placed in an induced coma, according to celebrity news website TMZ, citing unnamed sources.

On Tuesday night, he was hospitalized and then released Wednesday. But a few hours later, his bodyguards found him unconscious on the floor, and he was sent back to the hospital.

Wayne’s condition is said to be in critical, and he is “unstable” condition, the website said. His mother is currently on a flight en route to Los Angeles, it added.

Wayne also was shaking uncontrollably but did not stabilize, forcing hospital staff to put him in restraints.

But Mack Maine, with Wayne’s Young Money/Cash Money label, disputed the website’s claims.

“We will be releasing an official statement shortly but dont believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe…that’s false!!” he tweeted.

Maine said that he and Wayne were watching the Syracuse basketball game together and the rapper is “alive and well.”
