Lil’ Kim sues lawyer: Singer and rapper Lil’ Kim reportedly sued her lawyer and his business partner over shady business dealings.
Lil’ Kim filed a lawsuit against her lawyer and his business partner for allegedly tricking her into signing a bad licensing deal.
The 38-year-old artist born Kimberly Denise Jones filed a $1 million suit against attorney Sunny Barkats, who she claims allegedly got her to a contract deal with him and his partner, Andrew Ro. Both men received a 44 percent stake in a corporation that was created to license her brand, reported the New York Daily News.
But in December 2012, Lil’ Kim realized she was being duped, but Barkats refused to reimburse her, the newspaper said.
Kim told MTV on Saturday that it took “so long—super long to deal with the loss of a person who was such a huge impact in my life,” referring to the death of rapper the Notorious B.I.G. on March 9, 1997. Saturday was the 16th anniversary of his death.
Kim, who first reached fame as part of Biggie’s Junior Mafia crew, told the network: “I never celebrate that day. It’s so funny because I can always feel when that day is approaching. I get so depressed. I get so sad. It happens before March, in February.”
