Elton John cancels show: Singer-songwriter Elton John canceled a show in Alabama.
Elton John had to cancel a concert in Birmingham, Ala., citing medical problems.
The British singer and piano player canceled his show on Friday night at the Birmingham Jefferson Complex Arena “due to medical reasons,” said one of his representatives, according to E! News.
His representatives did not elaborate on what the medical issue was.
Just a few hours before the show, Ticketmaster announced that the performance would be canceled and is offering refunds for people who bought tickets.
A photo that was posted on the arena’s Facebook page shows John’s piano set up and in place for the show.
John is slated to play at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday night. It is unclear if he will be performing.
He is touring ahead of the September release of his upcoming album “The Diving Board.”
“It’s got everything I love about American music,” he told Rolling Stone in a recent interview of the album. “Gospel, soul, country.”
