Dels – ‘Black Salad’ (Big Dada)

Black Salad opens with the title track distorting organ and Dels proclaiming “something’s missing”. Perhaps addressing this, Bird Milk flickers with hi-hats and fuzzy synth, switching this rough vibe to some uplifting vocals from singer Bila, ending with an inspired, melodic outro. Not Today is chunkier with snappy rhyme timing over a chugging bassline, while growling instrumental Sell by Date and the ponderous You Live in My Head round out this varied EP.Several producers are on beat duties including the notable Kwes and alongside his contemporary Ghostpoet, Dels is keeping UK hip hop alive.
