NEW YORK—Artist Alice Lapier loved the dazzling colors of Shen Yun at the Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in the afternoon of Saturday, June 25, in New York City.
Ms. Lapier, who is a retired watercolor artist, said about the show: "I love it, it’s wonderful."
She had studied Asian history in college, said that she had "always had an interest" in Asian culture.
As a painter she described what stood out the most from her perspective, "Oh, the color and the beautiful flowers, and the dancing. I loved the dance, it was nice."
And aside from the performances, it was the colors that captivated her the most.
"Oh, the colors, I love the colors!" was how Ms. Lapier summarized her viewpoint of the show.
Ms. Lapier was at the Shen Yun show with other members of her family. With her was Ted Lapier, an attorney. Ted said that he liked the show, adding that his favorite parts were "the pagentry, the music."
Another member of the Lapier family who was on hand was Andrew Lapier, a college student majoring in media and communications. He said about the show, "I like it," adding that he particularly liked the music. "The dance is nice, but I like mainly the music. [It is] a nice blend of Eastern and Western."
