Teebs -- `Ardour` (Ninja Tune)

Originally known for his art, Teebs takes a similar approach to his music for this debut album. Infectious melodies blend with hip-hop and electronica to cohabit a kaleidoscope of sounds, using tightly manipulated drum samples and colourful layering of instrument loops.

'Double Fifths' and 'Humming Birds' feature inspired harp and orchestral strings, and typify the skill and versatility of Teebs' track structures. Despite being 18 tracks long, this eclectic approach ensures the album remains interesting. While the often abstract nature may not appeal to everyone, fans of Oriol or Flying Lotus will not be disappointed.
