There is a refreshing clarity and simplicity to the Tamikrest sound, synonymous with their much esteemed forbearers Tinariwen, also Sahara desert Tuareg peoples. Representing a culture fighting for its very survival on multiple fronts, this is rock ‘n’ roll at its finest, evoking rich desert landscapes and ancient wisdom passed down through the generations. Expect heartfelt melodies, deep resonant bass, crystal clear drumming, and expansive, driving guitar work. The CD booklet is glossy, the images and lyrics inspiring. This second Tamikrest album is already turning heads while their debut awaits the results of the Songlines best newcomers award.
